What You’ll Need:
-A compatible Garmin MFD (ECHOMAP UHD, Ultra, GPSMAP with Wi-Fi)
-The ActiveCaptain app (iOS or Android)
-A 32GB or less microSD card (inserted into your chartplotter)
-A Wi-Fi connection
1. Install ActiveCaptain App
Download the app on your phone or tablet from the App Store or Google Play.
2. Pair Your Device to Your Garmin Chartplotter
- Insert a blank microSD card into the chartplotter.
- Power on the MFD and enable Wi-Fi and ActiveCaptain.
- Open the ActiveCaptain app, connect to the chartplotter’s Wi-Fi network.
- Follow the prompts to pair the app to your device and create an ActiveCaptain card.
3. Check for Updates
- Once paired, the app will check for available updates for:
- Charts (BlueChart g3, g3 Vision, LakeVü)
- Software
- Quickdraw Contours
- Charts (BlueChart g3, g3 Vision, LakeVü)
- The app will notify you if chart updates are available.
4. Download the Update
- Use the ActiveCaptain app (while connected to regular internet) to download the chart update onto your phone or tablet.
- This may take time depending on chart size—Wi-Fi recommended.
5. Transfer to the Chartplotter
- Reconnect your device to the chartplotter’s Wi-Fi.
- The app will automatically sync the chart updates to the ActiveCaptain card.
- The chartplotter will install the updates from the card.
